There are multiple meanings of the Hebrew word translated as 'one' (echad) as their vocabulary was more limited to many others like Greek or English. So no matter how accurate the translation may be, the reader must let The Bible interpret itself and search Scripture to get the clearest picture.
Other possible translations for the above verse could be, 'the Lord is first,' or 'the Lord is alone,' or 'the Lord is one in unity.' But none of these limits God to a single divine person - indeed the Hebrew term 'Elohim' is often called a 'divine plural.'
Currently, God the Father and God the Son comprise the Godhead. But the promise of Scripture says many sons and daughters will become part of this God Family in the future as we are 'Gods.'
