When you load Windows 2000/XP in Safe Mode, all files used for the load are recorded in the Ntbtlog.txt file.

Ntbtlog.txt

path= C:\Windows\Ntbtlog.txt

page 701

or page 361 (guide to software)

If you log on your computer it does not log on?

Try booting in safe mode by holding F8 before the windows booting screen appears.

What key do you press at startup to load the system in safe mode?

Most systems use the F8 key, while booting up, to start in Safe Mode. Immediately after power up, keep hitting the F8 key about once per second, until you come up in Safe Mode.

When you go into safe mode it still ask for a password?

It will - all safe-mode does is load Windows with the absolute minimum drivers to get the system to a point where the user can try to sort out any problems - before re-booting as normal.

How do you open the system in safe mode?

Press the F8 key while the system is booting. Then choose safe mode.

What is a safe mode and how do you get into safe mode?

Safe Mode is a configuration on Windows that loads only basic, core drivers. Assuming that Windows is not beyond repair and that all hardware is functioning properly, Safe Mode is guaranteed to boot. For example, if a newly installed driver prevents the user from booting up in normal mode, Safe Mode offers a way to get back into the system so the user can roll back the driver. To get into Safe Mode, the user simply needs to press F8 after the BIOS has given control to Windows, but before Windows has a chance to start the normal startup process; there is approximately a 0.5 to 2 second window of opportunity, depending on the version of Windows and the speed of the computer. In the menu that appears after pressing F8, the user can select Safe Mode from the list of boot options. In older versions of Windows, you may need to press F5, instead.

A PC continues to boot You try to solve the problem by booting from a Windows 98 startup disk You discovered unwanted command in autoexecbat?

start the windows in safe mode.. to do this press f8 while booting and choose the safe mode option from the menu.. now click on start -> run type "msconfig" there you will find the autoexec option.. check for any entry starting "shutdown", if so then delete the entry.. restart computer..

Guys please help me... when i boot my PC fortunately all devices are detected but it restarts when it loads the windows... it a bios trouble or its just due to defective hardisk..?

Try hitting F8 when windows starts to boot, and booting into safe mode. If it boots into safe mode, then you can do a scandisk and see if the hard disk is the problem. Perhaps you have a bad driver, or windows is just crapping out.

How can someone repair the Windows black screen?

There are many ways someone can repair the Windows black screen. Sometime it can be repaired by re-booting the computer. However is that doesn't work, it must be booted through safe mode.
