The state of Oklahoma is the combination of two previous territories. My Grandfathers, passed lost of stores about the "Indian Territory". My dad's, dad, moved to the Indian territory after shooting a man in Texas and thought his family would be safe. It was told that the family was glad the job was over and one of my neighbors husband drove the jailer wagon during the territorial period. I was able to learn a lot about the Indian Territory. As stories goes, I think it was very accurate. Our neighbor, who was married to a Kiowa Chief (he drove the wagon), we would be told tall tales.
