The peoplel of Lebanon and the coastal part of Syria share a lot. While the coastal part of Syria seems as natural extension of Lebanon, the rest of Syria shares the characteristics of the Arabic desert. The people of Lebanon, ethnically are: Phoenicians, Syro Aramaic, Arabs, Armenians, Greek, Kurds, Persians and other minorities. While, the mix of ethnicities in Syria is the same, the percentage of Phoenicians in the Lebanese population is higher, while the Aramaic percentage in Syrian population is the highest. The people of the two countries in the past 100 years has been distinguished be Syria following the Arabic and communist system, while Lebanon taking a Westernized path and and engaging in a free economy market.
