Applied Arts affect everything we see, do, and experience every day. Some students tell me, "I don't like Art," to explain work avoidance. I tell them, "Sure you do! You never come to school all raggedy, with mismatched boring clothes. Look at your threads! You always wear colorful, neat, attractive clothes and sneakers. How do you think they got that way?...right! They were designed by a fashion artist. You can be one, too!" It goes on from there. Video games - graphic art. Home appliances and furnishings - industrial artists and others. Cars, trucks, bridges, buildings, entertainment, military uniforms - all designed by engineers, fashion/other artists. We borrow from a wealth of natural color, shape, form, and design, and life is all the more fascinating for it.
