The chamelion is a lizard that can change its color to match the surrounding area. There are also fish that can change colors to match the ocean floor. Almost all animals have some sort of camouflage especially when they are young. White tail deer fawns have white spots which help them blend into the grass and woods. Zebras have stripes that run vertically. When they stand together in a herd it is hard to tell where one zebra starts and another stops. This makes it hard for lions to tell which way they will run. Some butterflies have large circular patterns on their wings which look like big eyes. This scares away some hungry birds. There are bugs that look just like a stick. They are called walking sticks and they look like part of the tree they are on. God has built in some really neat security items on critters.

There are three types of camouflage. Crypsis is the act of blending into the surroundings. Mimesis is when an animal disguises it as something else. Motion dazzle uses patterns to confuse a predator.
To keep them safe from predators, or to keep them hidden from their prey, or both.

Well, that depends. There are animals like the Skunk and the Octopus that have a special ability called "Protective Coloration" which enables them to change their colour depending on the background. There are also animals that blend with the surroundings naturally by their own colour. Examples are Tigers and the Bamboo Forest & the Arctic Rabbit and the Arctic region.
People use camouflage in wars to protect themselves. They use camouflage uniforms, jeeps, tanks, warships, etc.Camouflage Clothing is mainly used for the purpose of preventing from being seen which helps in preventing you from being killed. There are many resellers of Camouflage clothing if you plan to buy. There are also sellers on ebay who sell camouflage clothing.

Mimicry describes an animal who is behaving like another type of animal to throw off its predators. Camouflage describes an animal's ability to make itself look like something else to blend in with its surroundings.

Camouflage covers the entire spectrum of defense mechanisms employed by an animal to hide in its environment. It involves properties like "blending coloration", "cryptic behavior".
When an animal's body resembles its environment, it is said to have camouflage.
Well camouflage helps an animal blend into its environment, and it helps them not get eaten by their predators, and animals with camouflage are usually harder to find, for example the chameleon.
