Urinary tract infections are not common in men and there is usually another cause.

The symptoms of a UTI are as follows;

- Having to pass urine more frequently during the day or night

- Pain on passing urine

- Dark/ cloudy or offensive smelling urine

- Lower abdominal or loin pain

- Some people may have a fever

However in men these symptoms usually indicate urethritis which is usually caused by an STI. If this is the case you may experience any of the symptoms above, particularly pain when passing urine. Importantly you may also notice a discharge from the end of your penis, this can be clear or white.

Some UTI's can cause swelling and pain in the groin as well.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms please see your doctor to get tested.
