The mood is generally excited, anxious, and apprehensive; especially for the Elevens who were to become Twelves and receive their Assignments. The mood on the day of the ceremonies in "The Giver" is somber and tense. The community gathers for the ceremonies where the young are assigned their future roles, and there is a sense of anticipation and anxiety as they are unsure of what their assignments will be.
