1913 is a slightly better date for Lincoln cents. Look below for the date for a small letter. There may a D or S or it may be blank.

Retail values as of 03/2013:

No Mintmark:
Very Worn: $0.69
Moderately worn: $1.44
Slightly Worn: $14.95
Almost No Ware: $25
Uncirculated: $32.40 to $364 depending on condition

"D" Mintmark:
Very Worn: $2.53
Moderately Worn: $4.60
Slightly Worn: $37.95
Almost No Ware: $69.00
Uncirculated: $102 to $720 depending on condition

"S" Mintmark:
Very Worn: $9.78
Moderately Worn: $13.80
Slightly Worn: $43.70
Almost No Ware: $73.60
Uncirculated: $144 to $1,140 depending on condition

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.

If it doesn't have a mintmark it was made in Philadelphia. If it has the D mintmark it was made in Denver. If there is an S below the date it was made in San Francisco.
