Anything dated 1965 or later that you find in change is generally only worth face value, 25 cents. There are a few State Quarters with errors that are worth a significant premium but no new ones have turned up in several years.
Older quarters (1964 and before) were made of 90% silver so they're worth at least their metal value, about 0.18 times the current price of 1 oz of silver metal. However once you get back to the coins dated in the late 1930s or earlier they can be worth more as collectibles.
