One publication that played a significant role in convincing colonists to break from Britain and declare independence was Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense." It made a compelling argument for why independence was necessary and helped galvanize public opinion in favor of revolution.

The Stamp Act was a tax on papers from Britain to the colonies. The colonists were to pay higher taxes in which they did not favor.
Another way instead of the Boston Tea Party that colonists might have done to protest the Tea Act was not buying the British tea. If many colonists didn't buy tea from Britain or just stop drinking it then the British wouldn't be making a profit from that sale and this would anger them because they need money. Maybe the British would lower the prices or make a compromise with the colonies.

The Northern or New England colonies favored independence from Britain versus reconciliation. The middle colonies were in favor of reconciliation.
Colonial America had just won Independence from Britain. The Federalist Papers were written by Madison Hamilton and Jay and argued in favor of a strong central government, but Americans feared a central government. They did not want to be "ruled" again.
