TVs work with remotes because TVs have an IR sensor on the front bezel for receiving a signal from a remote control.
Your Asus monitor is NOT equipped with such a sensor to receive commands from a remote control. It will NEVER work with TV remotes. Not in a million years. Don't even think it.
There are many operating systems that Asus driver downloads support including but not limited to PC remote control and home entertainment, DLNA media hub, Remote Desktop and PC plus smart devices.
I prefer the Lenovo's monitor, but the Asus is really small. It's cuter, but the Lenovo Monitor is cooler.
Most Cable remotes are RF (radio frequency) and IR (infrared frequency). Unless your monitor has one of those receivers on it, which it doesn't seem too according to the manufacturer, then the answer is no.
Unfortunately I can't answer your question but I do want to state that I am having a problem when connecting my Asus to my MacBook Pro. It show static except the upper part of the monitor mirrors my laptop monitor. Iv'e looked everywhere and it seems to be a problem all across the board even with non Asus monitors. I've been using a Mini Display to DVI adapter and I've had no luck fixing it.
See if you have only VGA port on the ASUS Monitor then you need to plugin the VGA part of HDMI to VGA in Asus Monitor and then plug the other part that is HDMI in your Macbook pro. There might be a problem with you that both Asus monitor and the HDMI to VGA cable have same VGA Plugs,Like both of them are female VGA or both of them are Male VGA hence they cannot be connected together. For that problem you need to have one more cable of the opposite character to that of your HDMI to VGA and your monitor's VGA port to establish a connection between the Monitor and Macbook pro using the cable you already have. Like if you have female VGA on your monitor and on your existing cable then you need to buy male to male VGA and vice versa you have to buy female to female VGA for male ports on monitor and cable you already have. If you feel that there is some other problem than that then you can message me directly and i will guide you accordingly.
Window 8, Asus computer. How do I find the control panel?
Not a thermometer as such - but there is a temperature sensor on most computer motherboards to monitor the CPU temperature.
If your Asus laptop is running a modern version of Microsoft Windows (Windows XP or greater), simply open your start menu (or hit the windows key on your keyboard) and click the button that says control panel; which should be on the right side of then start menu.

Any DVI-equipped monitor will work. Just about any monitor made in the past 5 years will have one of these -- it's a white connector. Personally, I'd use a small, light LCD display (somewhere in the 12"-15" range) for maximum portability.
