Turtles don't really like human contact. They are not domesticated animals, although some people do like to keep them as pets because they're usually easy to feed and keep alive. They're never really friendly like a dog or cat would be, though.

Is a crocidile snapping turtle more like a crocidile or more like a turtle?

It's sort of both because they snap or bite like a crocodile, and it has croc ridges on it's shell. It's like a turtle because it has a shell like a turtle and can tuck into it's shell like a turtle. so a Crocodile Snapping Turtle is a mix of a turtle and a crocodile.

Why does Brian feel that he was foolish in thinking that the turtle had come ashore to play?

Brian feels foolish because he realizes that animals do not share human emotions or intentions. The turtle did not come ashore to play; it was simply following its natural instincts or seeking a specific goal such as laying eggs. Brian's attribution of human-like motives to the turtle was a result of his anthropomorphism.
