∙ 12y agonot usually.If you see something like 12/20 or 14/20 it is gold filled jewellery- 1 20th 12 karat gold or 1 20th 14 karat gold respectively.No international standard exists for marking plated items..gold filled though is always stamped.It can also be real gold and have no stamp if its an old piece of jewelry before stamping became internationally standardised..

should not have marking
