My guess is Kermit the Frog, who is the longest-lasting of the Muppets. The Muppets were not originally custom-made for Sesame Street , they were a transplanted act that made the rounds of various shows such as Jimmy Dean (more or less C&W) and possibly Sullivan (Ed). originally he was not actually a frog but a (Frog-like creature) as his creator would intone.
