Writers can write explicitly about philosophy, or they might reveal their own ideologies (intentionally or unintentionally) by how they portray their characters or settings. To analyze the philosophical elements of a work, one is writing about the author's overarching ideas about meaning, life or society (or any number of other things).
They are similar but not exactly the same. "Evaluate" typically involves making judgments or assessments, while "analyze" involves breaking something down into its parts or examining closely. In a paper, you might analyze specific elements or components in order to evaluate the overall topic or issue.

Gothic literature is usually a combination of horror and romance, begun in the mid 1760's. It can also refer to literature from that time period. Grotesque literature features horror as well, but could be from any time period, and might contain different elements than Gothic.
