It depends on what standards are being used to label the food. Ideally, if a food is labeled organic, it is 100% organic and contains no chemicals or inorganic additives at all. Unfortunately, if a food is labeled organic with the USDA organic label, it may contain chemicals. According to the USDA site, chemicals are allowed to be used on organic foods under certain conditions.
How Many Canadians are Eating Organic Food?
Indicates the percentage of Canadians who purchased organic foods in 2000 and the frequency of those purchases over the year. The results from an October 2000 Environics International survey were as follows:
• 18 percent of Canadians purchased organic food regularly (regular or heavy buyers)

• 31 percent purchased organic food once or twice
• 26 percent never purchased organic food
• 3 percent did not know (DK) or provided no answer (NA)
Frequency of organic purchases by Canadians
The survey results show that a total of 71 percent (approximately 21.8 million) of Canadians have at least tried organic foods, whereas only 26 percent (approximately 8 million) have never purchased any organic food. Of special interest to us is the 40 percent (12 million) who purchase organic foods fairly often (i.e. more than one to two times per year). [Source: #1]
In fact, a recent survey found that 55 per cent of Canadians eat organic foods. [See Source #2]

They have chemicals to keep bugs away, to keep the food from smelling, frm keeping the food going bad, to keep the food polished, and only conventionally grown foods have these chemicals. These chemicals are bad for you but you won't see the difference until like4 years of each. This Is Solo6 Signing out! Peace! [2nd answer]
