About 55% of teenagers read books in the 1990s in the United States.
It's not that teens do not chose to read books, because I read a lot. It is just the teens find things that interest them more, like the internet and T.V. They think that these are more enjoyable. But, not ALL teenagers choose not to read books

teen girls usually read teen romance/fantasy/action/mystery books such as Twilight, The Hunger Games, 13 Reasons Why etc teen boys usually read action/sometimes fantasy/war books such as Harry Potter, Unbroken, Ted Dekker books etc basically we'll read anything that's NOT non-fiction
Micheal Morpurgo writes childrens books but some can be read by teenagers. he writes fictional books and in my opinion Micheal morpurgo's best book is Private Peaceful and i strongly recommend it to everyone. even my mum read it!

Teenagers have different tastes. Get a few different books and tell them that you will give them $5 to read the first two pages. If the book is right for them then they'll read the rest of it for free, otherwise, paying them $100 probably won't get them to finish it. search online for great books teenager's will love /don't pay them to read a book because they will just do it for the money not to enjoy the book but choose a book that matches there taste and show them that internet,tv or game consoles are better than books show them that books can be interesting
Give them something they will want to read. Something that will interest them.

Any book by Farley Mowatt or Jack London of course The Tarzan books and Robinson Crusoe (not the comics) the actual books!!! The Diary of Anne Frank is a must read for anyone teenager or adult alike!
It is designed for kids and teenagers but that is my opinion. Adults can read the magazine too. But adults are most likely to read Star and People.
