I can't really tell you the numbers or percentages, but I can definitely estimate the popularity (my father worked in the industry for about 40 years).
The most popular models nowadays are steel and aluminum. Steel is easier to maintain, less expensive, and can be made to look like wood. Aluminum is the cheaper, lighter version. It is easier to insulate it (unlike the steel one) yet it is also easily dented.
I would say the second most popular would be wood, since there's a lot of maintenance that needs to be going on for the wood not to rot, the color not to fade, etc. Wooden doors are great in energy saving and insulation, but you should know that insulated steel doors are even better.
Lastly, there are fiberglass doors. Fiberglass is a poor insulator, and can fade as a result of the weather. However, it is more resistant to corrosion than any other garage door material, so it works the best in coastal areas (also explains why it is the least popular of the three).
