Basically t is that you can not bring religion forcefully onto someone in public. For instance, you can pray outdoors or even preach outdoors because people can get up and walk out, but it is illegal for teachers to start 'preaching' and talking about religion, hinting about which religion is right. This is because students are not given the ability to get up and walk out. Establishment Clause.

Yet, when it was written the founding fathers had all experienced life under a king and a state religion. This is why the second amendment was written because the freedom to worship as they pleased was a necessary freedom. I am not sure in Canada, but in the States separation is different from divorce. They are two separate sets of legal paperwork. I would I assume it is the same in Canada. If you haven't filed divorce papers you won't have a divorce.
