Actually, carbon paper is NOT used in sewing, because the carbon would stain fabrics. Special sewing copy paper can be used to transfer pattern marks onto fabric and these marks can be easily washed out of the finished garment. However, that is an outdated technique that is rarely used in modern home sewing.
The pencil in sewing is called a "Marking Pencil".
Clover Chaco liners are used in sewing to make marks on dark colored fabric.
This is from the manual I have - Push down on the outer ring of the pressure regulator. (located at the top & left round knob, of the machine) This will release the pressure on the presser foot. To increase the pressure, push down inner pin until a suitable pressure is obtained. Insufficient pressure may cause poor feeding of the fabric, skipped stiches, or difficulty in guiding the fabric. If feed dogs or presser foot marks appear on the fabric, reduce the pressure. When sewing multiple thickness or heavy fabric, reudce the pressure. Increase pressure when sewing lighter weight fabrics.
The Pictogram Pen is a fabric marking pen. I am not sure who manufactures the pen. It has purple ink which either disappears over time or needs to be washed off lightly with plain water. It is used to place centering marks on fabrics to be embroidered and/or draw pictures on fabric that will be sewn on with a sewing machine.
Graduations, or graduation marks.
Very carefully. If you are a novice, please have someone HANDS ON it with you. To plan your pattern, to know there is a nap and most patterns will tell you how much extra fabric those with NAP will need. Fabrics such as this, I will hand stitch the seam before sewing on machine. It is slippery. Please be careful as to have to seam-rip (fix an error) will leave MARKS on the fabric which are very difficult to impossible to remove.
The transfer is working.
Lines going in the same direction. Ex. <-------------------->----------------------> <-------------------->----------------------> The marks in the middle show that the lines are for sure parallel.
