Gastroenteritis is broad classification in which cholera is a subcategory. So many cases of cholera are mild and go undetected. You classify the painless watery diarrhoea of acute onset as cholera like syndrome. Rice water stool is classic for diagnosis of cholera. It is not like a jelly but watery and spreads all over the room, unless you put the patient on cholera cot. ( Contributor could not make available, one such cot, in his life time even after desperate try!)
