George Lucas and Steven Spielberg did not work on the Star Wars movies together. This is largely due to the fact that Spielberg was in the Director's Guild and Lucas was not.

George Lucas created Star Wars, not Steven Spielberg
I don't think Ford said anything nice about Steven Spielberg because Ford didn't seem to even like the Star Wars series.

Being the creator of Star Wars, and, alongside Steven Spielberg, created Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones and Star Wars often collide with one another because George Lucas is the creator of them both. Steven Spielburg may not have created Star Wars, but he often works with George Lucas on some things, including the currently ongoing TV show "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."

He's worked with George Lucas more than once for the Star Wars movies. He's definitely worked with Steven Spielberg more than once (Catch Me If You Can and Saving Private Ryan, The Terminal, Schindler's List and so on.)

The highest paid director in the world for making movies would be, James Cameron. This is because he also writes his movies as well as directing them, this year alone he earned over $200 million. There are other directors such as Lucas and Spielberg which still earn money from movies that they have made in the past, Lucas earns about $170 million just from the Star Wars franchise. Hope this helped.
