The short Answer: The ventricles have thicker walls than the atrium simply because this is the part of the heart that does most of the pumping action by contracting. It has to be strong and fairly thick to cope with the pressure.

(Ventricles have thicker walls than the atrium, which creates a higher blood pressure. The left ventricle has thicker walls because it needs to pump blood to the whole body. The wall of the left ventricle is 8-15 mm

The right atrium's wall is approximately 2mm in thickness, due to the combined influence of the low pressure of this chamber and the ease of pumping to low pressure areas)

ventricle wall is thicker than atria wall as ventricle need to exert higher pressure than atria.

ventricle needs to exert higher pressure because :

(i) have to pump oxygenated blood to reach all over the body

(ii) distance travel by blood is further

on the contrary, atria has thinner wall because it only "send" blood to ventricle ( shorter distance compared to ventricle )

they are more thickned then auricle as they face more pressure while pumping blood away from then and to the distantg organ.

_____

The walls of the ventricles are thicker than the walls of the atria. Also, the walls of the left ventricle are thicker than the walls of the right ventricle.

Th atrial walls are thin and elastic, they only need to push the blood a short distance. Whereas the ventricular walls are thick and muscly, for they need to push the blood further.
