Try to determine if it hurts due to dehydration. If so, drink lots of water. If it hurts due to having eaten really spicy food, the damage is done. Gently clean yourself with a baby wipe or some wet toilet paper and chalk it up to experience. If you suspect that you might have an anal fissure or hemorrhoids (is there any blood on the toilet paper?), get it checked out by a doctor. Seriously, any wound or tear in the anus or colon invites infections like sepsis that could indeed kill you.
Probably need more insoluble fiber in your diet-vegetables, seeds, nuts, etc. and lots of water. You can also take a stool softener or a laxative to help if you're really unsuccessful at having a bowel movement. They're available at local pharmacy stores (CVS, Rite Aid, etc.). Just make sure you follow the directions on the package. I hope you feel better.
