∙ 13y agoThe Billeting officer's job was the same then as it is now: to organize lodging for troops, whether it is overseeing the building of barracks, assigning rooms and/or bunks of existing facilities to soldiers as they arive, or to secure lodging off-base such as hotel's, motels, or other spaces to rent. Basically his job is to do whatever is necessary to make sure soldiers have a secure place to sleep.
