they used one room school houses. all the children of different ages and grades had one teacher. which was normally a male. they use a blue back speller, a New England primar and The Bible. which i must add was the KJV. they wrote on chalk slabs and the teacher also had a chalk board. children would normally go in the summer and winter months. school would be closed for harvesting and farming season.
Schools back one hundred years ago were not like today. Back one hundred years ago, the schools were more difficult for people. People would stay until midnight and there were a lot of strict rules. Nowadays, work is much easier than back then.
