Serial killers driven to act out the brutality repeatedly, leave psychological markers. In multiple-victim cases, we always look to see if there is a signature so we can tie victims together. The Green River Task Force's internal investigative tool, unknown to the public was a 12 page FBI profile psychological profile of the Green River killer, written by John Douglas, then an FBI special agent with the Behavioral Science Unit, Quantico, VA in the summer of 1982, revised in 1984. The profile was never made public.

Has the FBI profilers studied all the Ripper murders not just the 5 canonical murders?

If they have I can find no written proof of it. Most likely responsibility for this is the fact that the misconception of only five victims throws any investigation slightly off-track. For the most accurate profile of the criminal all information needs to be considered. This case is no different. I have also seen many books written based on erroreous data, such as the victims were strangled, the killer had to be a doctor, and/or the killer disappeared after Mary Kelly's death. It would be interesting for the FBI to attempt a profile with all possible victims included.
