It starts with Simba's baby daughter Kiara being blessed and presented to the Pridelands. Then after grown a little older, Kiara wanders near Pridelands' borders, close to the Outlands to where Simba had previously exiled Scar's followers for their loyalty to Scar. Kiara stumbles across a young male cub, Kovu, who is one of the exiled Outsiders. Kovu is the son of Scar's most loyal follower, Zira. (Kovu was not Scar's biological cub but just hand-chosen by Scar to follow in his footsteps.) Kiara and Kovu are seperated for years, meanwhile Zira trains Kovu to kill Simba and take the throne as a new king, in order to revenge Scar's death and to fullfill Scar's wish for Kovu. And Simba worries about his daughter's safety.
Through Zira's cunning plan Kovu wiggles his way into Simba's pride in means to kill Simba, but instead he falls in love with Kiara. As Zira learns about this, she comes up with a new plan to ambush Simba with the lot of the exiled lionesses. Simba blames Kovu for this and exiles Kovu from the Pridelands. Zira leads the Outsiders into an attack now that Simba is weak and wounded. A war occurs but Kovu and Kiara - fallen in love two-sidedly - manage to cut it off. Simba admits he was wrong about Kovu, and to ever exile innocent members of his pride, and accepted them all back into Pridelands as part of his pride.
Kiara and Kovu are wed and the one pride devided into two and remaining enemies for years, is a whole once again.
Simba was shown to all the animals of the pridelands by rafiki.

probably not. sequals are usually less interesting than the first and that's what happened with the second lion king. the first is so mush better and i cant picture a Broadway musical of the second one. it just cant touch the first.
The same thing as the movie...
The characters first appear in the classic Lion King as young lion cubs who grow up through the story. They both also appear in the Lion King 2 where they are adults who now rule over the lions and have a child of their own. Simba and Nala also appear in the Lion King 1 1/2, which is Timone and Pumba's funny take on what happened in the Lion King.
