The Middle Ages lasted a thousand years, from the 5th century to the 15th. The area in which they happened was Europe and the Middle East. Answering this question really requires a book.
There is a link to a related question below. Its answer is very short, but it has a long list of links relating to medieval culture, and you might want to look at these.
Medieval Europe was a feudal society. There was a hierarchy of classes, in which the king was on top, lords/nobles were the second level, knights were the third level, and serfs were the bottom level. The higher the level, the more important to society and the more power one held. Medieval Europe was also extremely religious, and Christianity was a major part of life. Many wars were fought over land and religious disputes.
Medieval people had plenty of culture. What they did not have was reality TV.
