Belle Boyd was probably the best known , there were others such as Rose Greenough, who did not survive the war, but was drowned in an attempted amphibious landing from a Blockade Runner. Her body, and a large quantity of ( by now worthless) Confederate Money, were recovered. It was evidentally an accident. Belle Boyd survived the War. Ms Greenough is the subject of the book Rebel Rose.
