I remember crying when I heard about it. They were the funniest act. I remember these events too:

AFTER THEIR BREAKUP IN 1956, THE TWO ONLY APPEARED IN PUBLIC THREE TIMES TOGETHER. IN 1958 ON THE EDDIE FISHER SHOW, WHEN DEAN INTERRUPTED JERRY. AGAIN, IN 1976 DURING THE MDA TELETHON, DEAN WALKED ON STAGE DURING IT'S LIVE BROADCAST, AND IN JUNE OF 1989 JERRY ROLLED A BIRTHDAY CAKE ONTO A STAGE IN Las Vegas, WHERE DEAN WAS PERFORMING, TO WISH HIM A HAPPY 72ND BIRTHDAY.

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were a very successful musical and comical duo for ten years, from 1946 to 1956. They were a big hit in their TV shows and for some people is still a mystery the reason because they ended their working relationship and friendship. However, it's not true it was because any of them had an affair with each other's wife, it's much more likely that there was some sort of professional jealousy or differences in the way each one of them understood work and their act.

The reason why dean was mad at jerry was because he was annoying,he hogged the stage,his hilarious criticism towards dean on the show (it was sarcasm says jerry) the reason why the criticism offended dean was because he knew it was true,and then eventually dean snapped one night during filming and told off jerry to stop insulting him and to stop making comedy into a 5 year olds act,right on stage...i don't blame him,i never liked jerry he always acted like a reckless stupid 5 year old with a 12 pack of soda and a handful of sugar.Every time i saw him on tv i just couldn't stop saying under my breath "what an idiot" at the age of 14!,now i only watched it for dean cause his voice was like an angle and he's funny,but other than that the show was lame..would have been better with him and frank.

They were so very very special....magic in a bottle.

Both pulled the team apart. Jerry had huge aspirations working with Chaplin and Stan Laurel. He wanted to direct, produce, write on a high level and Did. jerry provided the smart business decisions and the writing and the content for them. He studied everything they did, worked harder, and made it better. He was a workaholic.

I wonder since jerry worked so hard, why Dean didn’t just relax as he wanted, play golf as he wanted, appreciate all the comedic talent and investment by Jerry.

But I read that Dean did not like Jerry’s Chaplin Sh—. It would Have been better if Dean had not put Down Jerry studying Chaplin. He could have encouraged him and appreciated and berm grateful for his Talent. Jerry was never going to give up his study of Chaplin.

However, the press was a lot At Fault. They constantly lauded Jerry. Yes he was so much the creator and mastermind. But Dean was a perfect partner, he loved him, held him snd pulled him back from the audience and humanized him.

Dean wanted to entertain. He felt at times, stuck, and the breaking point for him were limited roles on their movies. Hal Wallis was the cause/fault So Dean wanted to prove he could do other movie roles. And he wanted to sing and not work so hard.

They both ended up having different career aspirations. They both were polar oppositework ethics. They both broke each other up.

Jerry loved, loved- Dean. Dean opened to Jerry, bot after their break he closed and was hurt too. Re Dean, people mentioned they could not get close to him. Many people said they didn’t or couldn’t get to know him.

He also never innovated the way he did with Jerry. but With little effort he had super songs snd Talk Shows. He did what he wanted— work little/a popular entertainer. Jerry pushed the mark and took risks. Greater successes, and some things that didn’t work. Dean did not want the risk.

I wish they both could have appreciated their mutual magic together,.
