Spoken language would be impossible to pinpoint, as it evolved with Man through his many changes. Recorded language generally is agreed to trace back to a form of writing called Cuneiform, essentially a series of strikes and lines, usually engraved in a durable surface such as a stone. Prior to this, pictograms left by "cavemen" could be considered "language", as it is a recorded medium used to record and communicate information from one person to another, but it had no organized system - merely artistically creative narrators.
