The religion of Judaism includes a number of holidays, but the most important festival is Passover (or Pesach in the original Hebrew). There is also Hanukkah, Purim, Shavuot, and the High Holy Days, Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kippur.
It was Passover evening and as with all Sabbaths and Annual Feast Days, they are God's and belong to no man:
Exodus 12:11New International Version (NIV)11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD's Passover.
Moreover, Jesus instituted new symbols at this meal, aka, the Last Supper and commanded all to observe it annually as a remembrance of His sacrifice and death for all mankind. 'Do this in memory of Me.'

We know that Jesus celebrated several Jewish festivals. Christian tradition says that the very last festival Jesus celebrated was Passover, at which point, Roman soldiers made a famous arrest, but the Gospels also mention the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah), and there's no reason to believe that Jesus behaved as anything other than an observant Jew throughout adulthood. That means making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem 3 times a year for the annual festivals of Passover, Shavuot (Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks) and Succot (the Feast of Booths). The farther Jews lived from Jerusalem, the harder it was to keep the festivals, but from Jerusalem to Nazareth is only about 60 miles as the crow flies. Walking that distance in two days is practical, and it's an easy 4-day walk.
Passover is celebrated during the middle of Nisan, which occurs between the last week of March and the third week of April.

The Saturnalia was a two week winter festival in which everything was given over to fun and gaiety and practical jokes. Gifts were exchanged during this time. Many of the other festivals were celebrated with pageants, chariot races and theater performances. Public banquets generally accompanied a major festival. Each festival had a particular connotation for a particular god or event.
