Polytheism. They believed in many Gods. Re was the main God, he was the sun God. His son, Horus, was often shown as an eagle, his eyes were supposedly the sun and moon. Isis was a goddess. Bastet was a cat goddess,the Egyptians therefore worshiped them and if you killed a cat you would be executed. Hathor was seen often as a cow... but she is also the goddess of war and then is seen as a lion.
The Egyptian's first began worshiping many god's because of the religion Amun. During the reign of Amenhotep IV (Tutankhamun's father), he changed the religion to Aten (Worship of One God). This made everyone angry with him so they didn't respect him.
When Tutankhamun began his reign, he changed the religion back to Amun and this pleased everyone.
