There where 16 watertight compartments on the Titanic. But when they hit the ice berg it flooded 6 of them. The compartments were labeled A, B, K, L, M, N, O, and P.

5, which was one too many. If 4 were breached, then the Titanic would still have stayed afloat. She was designed that way, hence the name "the unsinkable ship."
