Two things that the Normans did well in The Battle of Hastings were to cause the English to break down their shield wall, and getting them to give chase down the hill and then turn their forces on the English troops.
williause several tactics to help him win the battle of hastings such as making the archers aim high in the sky so that the arrows would fly over the sheild wall that the saxons were qeeping very tight. the arrows flew over the sheild wall killing hundreds of saxons one of the arrows flew and hit the saxons leader harold goodwin in the eye. another one of there tactics was to pretened to run away so that the saxon army would run after them break9ing the sheild wall making it easyer for the normans to break trough and kill the saxons
they tricked the Saxons by pretending to retreat and the Saxons followed and lead them into swamps
