The Romans adopted Greek culture, so Rome pretty much had the same gods and goddesses but with slightly different qualities and different names. A few examples:
Zeus - Julpiter or Jove
Hera - Juno
Apollo - Apollo
Artemis - Diana
Athena - Minerva
Ares - Mars
Apthrodite - Venus
Hephaestus - Vulcan
Dionysus - Bacchus
Hermes - Mercury
Hades - Pluto, Orcas or Dis Pater
Hestia - Vesta
Demeter - Ceres
Poseidon - Neptune
He was Hermes, in Rome Mercurius (Mercury).
He was called Hermes in Greece, Mercury in Rome.
The greek pantheon was a "family", so to speak, of gods assembled on Mt. Olympus, or in certain gods cases, else were. It is located in Athens Greece
Personally, I can tell the stories for both, but the Greeks came first, but then Rome conquered them, and basically copied them,
if they wished to become mortal they could be. ----------------------------------------------------------------- edit: As far as I know, the legend says that the gods of the ancient Greece had to consume ambrosia (sustenance for gods) to sustain their godhood.
Ares is hated by greek gods, but he was loved in rome. He was called Mars in rome.
mythology is the origin
Greek mythology is about the ancient Greek gods. Rome was not an ancient Greek god.
Yes twelve I believe the roman gods were same as Greek gods accept different names an example would be Greek god Poseidon in Rome he is known as Neptune
He was Hermes, in Rome Mercurius (Mercury).
Rome did because it defeated Greece
NO
Like many Roman Gods, Paelen was originated in Rome and thus has no Greek name.
There wasn't much difference with the gods. Ancient Rome just used Ancient Greek gods and gave them different names. For example, Zeus was called Jupiter in Ancient Rome.
