The only child Harriet Tubman ever had was Gertie, and she was adopted. Harriet Tubman married a man named Nelson Davis on March 18, 1869 and they adopted a baby girl named Gertie in 1874.

In about 1859, Harriet Tubman returned to her home in Auburn, New York with a girl named Margaret. There is confusion about who Margaret's parents were and some biographers think that Margaret actually was Harriet's daughter.
