Really the long term impact were these listed bellow:
1) people getting over the fact their relatives died and never were found again due to the double destruction the tsunami made. (when it entered the land it destroyed all everything and created more debris on it's way, but when it had to retreat back to the sea by gravity, all the debris destroyed anything in it's way to get back to the sea)
2)social issues ( people trying to make friends again)
3)people remember the devastation they had to watch from a height above the ground ( watching all the houses,people,buildings all getting destroyed.
