- Electricity would be rationed and it would be very expensive
- Mass starvation would hit when food supplies diminish
- There would be deaths due to inescapable cold and heat
- Production of everything would be greatly reduced
- Shipping of goods would essentially cease
- The forests would be burned for survival, so CO, CO2, air particulates and atmospheric heavy metals would sky-rocket (individual burning of biomass is inefficient and dirty)
- Economies would collapse
- Chaos would erupt as people try to survive
Even if fossil fuels are slowly phased out, there are insufficient sustainable energy sources for the Earth's current population and level of industrialization, especially for motor vehicle consumption (e.g. transportation, shipping, mining, agriculture).
