If its a clicking sound check your c/v joint. It gets real loud when going around a corner
It depends on when you hear the noise, but it likely a joint in the front wheel drive unit.
it might be your drive shaft or transmission going out.
If its front wheel drive possibly an axle.
This could be a bad strut or ball joint. If the noise is constant when you drive this is probably the cause. If the noise only happens when you hit a bigger bump/pothole I would check your motor mounts, this was the cause on my thunderbird.
c/v axle is bad if its front wheel drive
One cause of a popping noise from the front end while backing up in cold weather is the drive shaft. A mechanic can help find the problem.
Possible failed U joint or cv joint at the left front wheel
Check your front brake pads
You did not say what kind of vehicle it is. If it is a front wheel drive, it has drive axles and if the drive axle is going out, it will click especially when you turn the wheels.
need to know what causes my car to make a heavy noise when driving. i have changed both front bearings but have discovered the noise still exist. Could it be a problem with the drive axlel?
If the car is front wheel drive, could be worn left drive shaft/universal joint, especially if you hear cracking noise when turning tight and accelerating. You can check for broken rubber boot around the joint. If the car is 4 wheel drive, noise/vibration can come from damaged front transfer case/differential which is sometimes offset on the left side - usually caused by tight turns in 4 wheel drive on dry pavement? When you turn the wheel, or while you drive?
