The Tudors are an ancient family, but first became of note when Catherine of France , widow of Henry V of England married the master of her wardrobe, Owen Tudor. Their son Edmund married further into the Lancastrian family. Following the Wars of the Roses, his son Henry became the principal Lancastrian claimant for the Crown. He defeated Richard III at Bosworth to become Henry vII. The Tudor base was Pembroke castle in Wales.
