I don't know for how many years Maytag made this model, but I believe Ipurchased mine in Fall 1981 (31.5 yrs at this writing),and it is performing like new to this day. I replaced the power cable only because of newer building codes requiring 4-prong 240V outlets, and this model originally had the 3-prong plug. That was a $20 DIY fix, but please do your homework before attempting it yourself.

Model = DE303
Series = 05
Serial = 144830VJ
The Maytag manufacturing date code is shown by the last two letters of the Serial Number. In this case, V and J. According to the website in the related link, the old DE303 was manufactured on May 1998 (V =1988, J = May).
