On the back of the chips is a date in the YYWW format. look for dates that are close together and are less than a year old. Or if the chip's surface is dull or matted, or you can scratch off the markings with a fingernail or knife suspect that the chip has been re-marked.

∙ 15y agoIf The surface does not seem polished or you can scrach off the markings with your finger nail or a knife, suspect that the chip has been re-marked. Additionally, each chip on the module should have a Date-Stamp that indicates its date of manufacture. The date will be in YYMM format. Modules with date-stamps that cover a wide range may be remanufactured.
