One. Keep in mind that, as an appointed official, the Prime Minister's term extends from his appointment to his resignation. Gordon Brown took office in 2007, midway through the 54th Parliament, after the resignation of his predecessor. After the poor performance of the Labour party in the 2010 general election, its first under his leadership, he was forced to resign.
