Has it snowed on Auckland

Thursday, July 27th, 1939 and more recently Monday, August 15th, 2011 are the only recorded snow falls in Auckland since records began in 1853. The snow fell mainly on the hills but there were dustings of snow down to sea level although the August 15th 2011 snowfall was enough to create drifts.

No. Auckland is too far north. I think the highest snow ever comes up is around the Taupo region on Mt. Ruapehu and Mt. Tarawera etc. Although it has snowed lightly on Mt. Te Aroha nearly the Hauraki Plains, about an hour or so drive south of Auckland.

Yes, it does snow in Auckland. only every few years... this year being one of them. It also often hails, which looks like it has snowed. I am in North Auckland.

There is a difference between snow and sleet. People are saying that in 2011 there was snow fall in Auckland. When what really happened was the fall of sleet. Now of course these "people" are those that are not yet intelligent enough to recognize the difference between snow and sleet.

It does not snow in Auckland.

To add to someone's helpful answer above, It is snowing today in North Auckland, and was a few days ago. It snows mid-winter every few years.

Its Snows down the far of New Zealand where its closer to Antarctica. It snows during winter (obviously) which is June,July, and August.

Very rarely in Auckland, whereas on my lawn in Wanaka, we have some lying today, and do so every second year or so.
