Human tissue is always alive from the start, so is the sperm etc. It's not about when it starts but about development. It's the pro-life side that cares about when it starts. The pro-choice side takes the woman's side until the fetus is developed enough to live outside her body. Up to that moment they are not equal to the woman and should not have precedence. As always with issues like this there is not one view on it so there are some, but they are not as many, who believe that a woman always have rights before the fetus regardless of how far along you are in the pregnancy. Then there are those who only think it should be allowed in the first trimester. There are all kinds. Being pro-choice means you want the choice of abortion to be there for those who wants it. That there will be a option apart from birth.

I think its each individuals personal choice for sterilization. I do however think that before doing this procedure each person needs assess this choice and at least wait until they hit the age of 25, this gives them time to experience life and make an objective choice.
