I think it depends on what year, but the only resource that I know of that West Virginia mines is coal.
Most coal mines are in the Appalachian regions of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and Kentucky. But there are other mines in the Midwest, notably Ohio and Illinois. The largest production comes from newer mines in the West. Of the 27 states producing coal, the states with the largest volume of production are : Wyoming (nearly the volume of all other states combined!) West Virginia Kentucky Pennsylvania Texas Montana Illinois Virginia North Dakota Colorado Indiana New Mexico Utah Ohio Alabama Arizona
