I would try the publisher which is Straight Arrow Publishers, San Francisco CA. The Rolling Stone, which is an American icon was started by Jann Wenner in 1967 (Wenner is still publisher). The Charles Manson issue was one of the biggest sellers in the magazines history. If you can find it, buy it, it is probably worth some money.
He was. Manson loved it. Charles Manson was named Man of the Year in the underground newspaper 'Tuesday's Child' in early 1970. It was reported in Rolling Stone magazine No61 on 25th June 1970 with a photo of the front cover which is where the misconception originated. I have an original copy of the magazine which names Manson as 'the most dangerous man alive' - I guess this only serves to feed the myth about them naming him man of the year
Manson is allowed visitors but Charlie runs the show. He says who and when, many ask but few are granted an interview with him.
The most recent interview I could find was from March 19, 2009 for the Inside Edition TV show.
